Trusted dog walking, home boarding and doggy day care from a fully insured, qualified dog lover, with small groups and personal attention for every pup.

Small groups, big love

A lifelong dog obsession became a job

I'm laid-back about most things. Your dog's care isn't one of them.

Whether your pup needs a midday leg-stretch, a fun-filled day of company, or a cosy place to stay while you're away, they'll be in capable hands. Small groups only, plenty of fuss, and constant updates so you never miss a moment.

Meet Sandra

Hi, I'm Sandra 💚

I'm a London-born gal who's called Peterborough (Pboro, if you're local) home for over 25 years, and I've shared my life with beloved dogs for as long as I can remember. After years as a personal trainer and teaching assistant, spending time giving dogs the love they deserve on the side, I finally opened the doors to Sandra's Place.

I'm barely 5ft tall, but don't let that fool you, when it comes to animals I don't do things by halves. I'm fully insured, hold a Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming, Walking & Training and diplomas in Animal Care & Dog First Aid, and I only ever walk up to four dogs per walker for maximum safety and fun.

Areas Covered

Serving Peterborough & nearby villages

Based in Peterborough and covering the surrounding towns and villages. If you don't see your area, just ask. I may still be able to help!

Dog walking is kept local to these areas, but home boarding and day care are open to anyone who can drop off and collect their pup, including further afield places like Stamford, Market Deeping, Bourne, Spalding, and even as far as Grantham, since distance only matters for walking, not for a drop-off and collection.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

What areas of Peterborough do you cover?

I'm based in Peterborough and regularly cover Bretton, Glinton, Helpston, Marholm, Newborough, Walton and Werrington, plus the surrounding villages. If your area isn't listed, please just ask, as I can often help.

Do you take dogs from outside of Peterborough?

For home boarding, yes! While my dog walking is kept local (regular walkies further afield would simply be too far to travel), overnight boarding and day care are open to anyone who can drop their pup off and collect them.

That means I'm happy to welcome dogs from across the wider area, including Stamford, Market Deeping, Bourne, Spalding, Whittlesey, March, Wisbech, Oundle, Yaxley, Huntingdon, and even as far as Grantham. Distance only matters for walking, not for a boarding drop-off and collection, so if you're a little further out and can get to me, just ask.

Do you walk multiple dogs at once?

Yes, but I keep groups small, never more than four dogs per walker. This keeps every walk safe, calm and sociable, and means your dog always gets plenty of personal attention.

Do dogs need to be neutered or spayed?

Male dogs need to be neutered before joining walks, day care or boarding. Spaying isn't required for female dogs, but I do ask that she isn't brought while in season, and that you let me know when she's next due on so we can plan around it.

It's nothing against your dog, just about keeping things calm and safe for everyone.

Are you licensed, insured and qualified?

Absolutely. Sandra's Place holds a council home boarding licence rated to the Higher Standard (Licence No. 132982) and is fully insured. I also hold a Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming, Walking & Training, along with diplomas in Animal Care and Dog First Aid. Your dog's safety is my number one priority.

What happens during an overnight boarding stay?

Your dog stays in my own home as one of the family, with sofa snuggles, garden play, regular walks and round-the-clock care. There are no closed cages – a crate door is only ever shut if that's what your dog is used to and you prefer it. Plenty of dogs end up sharing the bed with me and Stanley by the end of their stay, if that's what they're used to at home! I keep numbers low so every guest feels relaxed and settled.

New boarders start with a friendly one-hour "Stay & Play" session (£15) so I can meet your dog and they can settle in before their first overnight. A £50 deposit is required for stays longer than one night.

What's in place to keep boarding dogs safe in your home?

My home is licensed for home boarding by Peterborough City Council and meets their Higher Standard, which includes an assessment of animal safety in the home. In practice, that means:

  • Fully fenced and enclosed front and rear gardens
  • Safety gates between rooms
  • Doors between rooms kept closed as required
  • A separate enclosed patio off the main garden
  • Fire guards
  • Emergency spare keys and contact details
  • …and more

Dogs are supervised throughout the day, and you can see where they stay further up the page.

Can my dog stay with you over Christmas and New Year?

Yes, I offer boarding over the festive period, and it's a lovely time for your pup to be spoilt while you celebrate. Holiday dates do book up quickly, so please get in touch early to reserve a place.

A holiday rate of £45 per night applies over Christmas (24th to 26th Dec) and New Year (31st Dec to 2nd Jan). All other terms, including the second-dog discount, still apply. The price calculator applies this festive rate automatically for your exact dates, so it's an easy way to get an estimate.

How do I book, and what's your cancellation policy?

The easiest way to book is to message me on Facebook. When you first get in touch, I'll walk you through everything so you know exactly where you stand, including my full Service Agreement for you to read.

Cancellation is simple: give me 48 hours' notice or more and there's nothing to pay. A no-show without any warning is charged at 50% of the booking, and for boarding stays longer than one night the £50 deposit is non-refundable. It's all written clearly in the Service Agreement, with no surprises. See full pricing & terms.

Do you offer discounts for more than one dog?

Yes, your second dog from the same household gets 50% off the full price on any service. The price calculator applies this discount automatically, so it's a quick way to see an estimate for more than one dog.
