This policy explains what information Sandra's Place collects, why, and how it's used. It covers both this website and the information shared when you get in touch to book dog walking, home boarding or doggy day care.
Who this policy covers
Sandra's Place is the trading name Sandra uses for dog walking, home boarding and doggy day care in Peterborough. It is not currently a registered company; Sandra operates as a self-employed sole trader. For the purposes of UK GDPR, Sandra is the "data controller" for any personal information collected through this website or in the course of providing services.
What information is collected
Two different things happen here, and it's worth separating them:
- Booking and client information. When you message via Facebook Messenger, phone, or otherwise get in touch to enquire or book, Sandra collects information needed to provide the service: your name, address, phone number, and details about your dog (breed, age, temperament, medical or feeding needs, vet details, and similar). This is exchanged directly with Sandra, not through this website.
- Website and cookie data. This site itself doesn't have a contact form, sign-up, or tracking script of its own. It does, however, embed two third-party services which set their own cookies and may collect data automatically: a Google Maps location embed, and the Facebook Page Plugin (used to show the latest Facebook posts). These run under Google's and Meta's own privacy policies, not this one.
How this information is used
- To respond to enquiries and arrange bookings
- To provide safe, informed care for your dog (medical needs, feeding, routine, etc.)
- To contact you about your booking, including updates and photos during a stay
- To meet legal, insurance and licensing obligations tied to home boarding
Your information is never sold, and isn't used for marketing beyond the odd update about Sandra's own services.
How long information is kept
Client and dog records are kept for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, plus a period afterwards to meet insurance and licensing record-keeping obligations, typically no more than 6 years after your last booking. After that, records are deleted or securely destroyed.
Who information is shared with
Information is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes. It may occasionally need to be shared with:
- Sandra's insurer, in the event of a claim
- The local council or licensing authority, if required as part of home boarding licence compliance
- A vet, in a genuine animal emergency
- Facebook (Meta) and Google, only in the limited sense that their embedded plugins run on this site under their own privacy policies
Cookies
This site does not set its own tracking cookies. The Google Maps and Facebook Page Plugin embeds may set cookies as part of how they function; you can read more in Google's Privacy Policy and Meta's Privacy Policy.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Ask what information is held about you and your dog
- Ask for inaccurate information to be corrected
- Ask for your information to be deleted, where there's no legal reason to keep it
- Object to or restrict certain uses of your information
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you're unhappy with how your information has been handled
